CONSUMERS: Finding quality safe Medspa treatments should be easy
Medspas have popped up all over the US that are cutting corners, using illegal products and risking your health. How can you know whether your Botox or Laser place is legit? Make sure it is a Certified Medspa
- Certified Medspas have licensed Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and and Registered Nurses. Certified spas cannot employ non-medically-trained providers to perform medical treatments. (That's illegal, but unfortunately common!)
- Certified Medspas use genuine FDA-approved treatments and products
- Certified Medspas are properly supervised by a Medical Director who is an expert in aesthetics and available to direct medical care when needed.
- Certified Medspas are prepared for emergencies
- Certified Medspas are legally owned

Consumers: How does The Medspa Board help you?
We are here to help people who want aesthetic treatments — Botox, fillers, laser, skincare — but don’t know who to trust or how to find legitimate providers. We help you cut through the noise and feel confident booking your next service.Â
Questions to ask before engaging with any aesthetic provider:Â
- Who are the providers and what are their licenses? We verify licenses are active.
- Who is the Medical Director and what is their license? We require that the medical director is licensed and qualified.
- Who is the owner? We check ownership.
- Do they only use safe and legal products? We weed out any place purchasing illegal products
- Are they prepared for any complication should one occur? Every spa must be prepared to handle common emergencies
- There are many more. We do the leg work for you.
We ask those questions so you don’t have to. Certification by the Medspa Board means that the spa uses licensed practitioners and a legitimate medical director and follows all of the guidelines listed here.Â

Medspa Certification Requirements
Medspa board certification requires all providers to be licensed, with an active and qualified medical director (MD, DO, NP, or PA where legal) who holds ultimate responsibility for patient safety, provider supervision, and treatment protocols.
A proper medical assessment (Good Faith Exam) must be conducted by an MD, DO, NP, or PA, and services can only be performed or delegated to trained, supervised, and licensed practitioners following established protocols.
All products must be legally sourced, the owner must comply with state laws, and the spa must be equipped to handle medical emergencies like burns and occlusions.
